Thousands flee Sri Lanka floods
Floods in northern and eastern Sri Lanka have forced more than 100,000 people to leave their homes.
One person is reported to have been killed by a mudslide. Heavy rain has been falling since the weekend, and is forecast to continue for a few days.
More than 18,000 families have been forced to take shelter in schools and temples in the island’s east which has been worst hit, the government says.
The floods have cut power lines and made roads impassable in the area.
The government has launched an urgent operation to provide shelter and move people to safer areas.
